Ayia Napa Marina

The Ayia Napa Marina in Cyprus is a 22.7-hectare land reclamation effort to create a 360-slip marina capable of berthing up to 100-meter yachts. The harbor was formed by dredging a calcarenite seafloor to create a 16-hectare basin, protected by a 900-meter, 25-ton tetrapod armored breakwater. The breakwater was designed to shelter the shoreline and harbor area from 5–6-meter storm waves and was supplemented by a 300-meter artificial beach and offshore submerged breakwater to manage wave action while concurrently introducing recreational value. Extensive oceanographic analysis and computer simulation, including climate change consideration, guided the design process. While Principal Engineer at a previous firm, Jack Cox, Edgewater’s Principal and Vice President of Engineering, functioned as the Lead Engineer and oversaw the development of detailed construction documents and directed full-time construction monitoring of the project’s quality and quantity, culminating in his Engineer-of-Record approval of the completed works.
